Scarce Bergmann 1908, one of approximately 3000 pistols in 9mmBB made by Anciens Etablissements Pieper of Liege, Belgium for the Spanish Military, this example with replacement wood grips and a later magazine. Standard configuration single action locked breech pistol with 4” barrel having fixed front and rear sights. Left side of barrel extension with usual AEP manufacturer marking and location in Liege. Spanish issue number “1239” on left side of barrel extension and frame. Spanish acceptance markings over chamber and left side of frame with the pistol serial number “2867” under frame extension. Usual hard rubber grips, fragile, replaced with later, unnumbered wood grips. Unnumbered magazine from a M1910. Fixed lanyard loop.

Rare Bergmann 1908, made in Belgium for the Spanish military, immediate predecessor to the M1910 and 1910/21.
Condition:
VG + original condition with sharp edge wear, scratches, and some fading as carefully photographed. The top of the locking block has been polished and most of the fire blue from the extractor has faded. Most of the other small parts, in the white, with minor staining. Comparable condition grips with oil staining and scattered handling marks but no cracks or chips. Bright bore with easily discernable rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A very scarce Spanish procurement gun reflecting one of Bergmann’s first military contracts, sure to please any collector of early semiautomatic pistols!
