Description:
Mugica sold a very small number of 12 shot pistols whose frames were made by Santiago Salaverria whose initials appear on the right side of the tang. Grips were supplied by the same contractor who provided the panels for Beistegui Hermanos. The left side of the slide is marked MUGICA-EIBAR, “Made In Spain”. The right side of the tang is marked with the full serial number. The late automatic pistol proof appears on the slide, exposed chamber, and is part of the Eibar triad as applied to the left side of the tang. This pistol was later sent to England as reflected by the additional proofs on the right slide and tang and the tonnage proofs superimposed on the chamber markings. Fitted with two piece molded horn panels each marked Royal over a pair of rampant horses. Lanyard ring present. Original nickeled 12 shot magazine drilled with 11 indicator holes. Assembly number 34 marked on barrel and slide.
Synopsis:
Exceptionally scarce 12 shot Eibar pistol marked Mugica that was sold by Jose Cruz Mugica in Eibar. Close copy of the Astra M1000.
Condition:
Near excellent original condition with expected wear from being carried and moderate handling. Front and backstraps have largely transitioned to a toned patina. Comparable condition original grips and magazine. Good rifling with darkened grooves. Perfect manual mechanics. THIS IS THE EXACT PISTOL PICTURED IN THE BOOK ASTRA FIREARMS AND SELECTED COMPETITORS ON PAGE 30. A HISTORIC INVESTMENT!
