Standard configuration Bergmann 1896, No. 3, target pistol, 6.5mm, with extended barrel, fully adjustable target sights, spur trigger guard extension, refined set trigger, oversized, wraparound, and fully checkered target grips. A very early gun whose bolt was never cut for an extractor. Standard markings as applied to the usual 1896 pistols, this example having been given as an Argentine shooting prize in 1897 as reflected by the silver plaque mounted on the left side of the frame.
VG+ original rust blue. Comparable condition fire blue and straw with fading and oxidative flecking consistent with the overall condition. No suggestion of enhancement. Near excellent grips. Very bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. One of the scarcest Bergmann pistols, instantly recognizable by its special/unique features, sure to please any collector of Bergmann or early design pistols, this 1896 being one of the earliest semiautomatic target pistols ever made!
