Description:

Beautiful Mauser C96 Broomhandle, Prewar Small Ring Bolo with matching Bolo stock, this example having been marked by one of the most notable French retailers. 4″ barrel having fixed front sight and slip-in rear sight graduated 50-1000. Short extractor, 2 lug firing pin, Prewar Commercial type safety and hammer. Top of chamber w/ usual Mauser address. Full serial number on left chamber flat. Left side of bbl. extension marked with Crown/”C”/”U”. 2 Line Mauser address on right side of frame. Full serial number on the back of frame and repeated either in full or the last few digits on all the usual parts and scribed “822” on each of the grips. Top of bbl. marked ‘MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE D’ARMES ET CYCLES-ST-ETIENNE.’ Complete with factory-matching Bolo shoulder stock, the lug marked “822”.

Condition:

99% bright original rust blue, minor oxidation at the right forward corner of the floorplate and very slight thinning of the front strap. Corresponding fire blue and straw on all appropriate parts. Crisp original hard rubber grips with no cracks, splits or losses. Bright bore with light etching. VG-Excellent Bolo stock, no cracks, with oxidative discoloration of the hinge and lug as imaged. A wonderful Prewar Small Ring Bolo with the desirable hard rubber grips, French retailer marking and matching Bolo stock, an ensemble that would be very difficult to improve upon!
