As one of the earliest Nazi High Power Pistols to be marked with the WaA140 code, its features include a tangent rear sight, non-slotted frame and a WaA140 marked magazine.* Usual three-line address on left side of slide and stacked matching numbers on the right side of pistol. E/WaA140 acceptances in usual locations with Waffenamt on exposed barrel hood. Checkered/bordered wood grips. Correct magazine with aluminum follower, blued body and split tail floorplate, marked with the Wa140 acceptance. Holster coded bdt 43 with adjacent WaA927 waffenamt. *According to Vanderlinden, “FN Browning Pistols” 3rd edition, vol II, page 748, this variation was introduced in December 1941 and continued to November 1942 in the approximate serial range 93,000-140,000.
Condition:
VG bright original finish with patchy areas of wear, particularly on the left forward frame and thinning of both grip straps. Dark oil soaked grips with light scattered handling marks, the right panel with a hairline crack at top rear. Comparable condition magazine. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. VG holster with supple leather, minor loss of stitching at lower edge of belt loop. A popular pistol from WWII, increasingly difficult to find.
