Description:
Standard configuration Remington Model 1875 Revolver with 7 1/2” barrel having a fixed front sight and notched rear sight. Single line address on top of barrel “E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION N.Y. USA” Left side of frame marked “44” then referencing caliber .44-40. SN 343 marked on left frame and inner surface of loading gate. Each grip panel with pencil – matching SN. Major and most minor components nickel finished with the cylinder rod and all screws fire blued. Fitted with smooth walnut grips. Never made with a lanyard ring.
Condition:
Approximately 95% original nickel finish with scattered oxidative flecking, mostly on cylinder and hammer as carefully imaged. Comparable condition fire blued screws. Grips may have had added finish, but no suggestion of a sanding or other freshening. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. It would be difficult to improve on this early Remington Model 1875.
