Scarce and Highly Desirable Colt 1860 Army, Caliber 44 Colt, later addressed with Richard’s Conversion #5054, that changed the revolver from percussion to centerfire. Description:
Standard configuration Colt 1860 Army Revolver that was later modified with a Richards Conversion to allow centerfire shooting. The revolver has an 8” barrel with a fixed front and rear sight having a single line address referencing Samuel Colt and the location in NY. Cylinder with naval scene. Added conversion plate with loading gate numbered 5054. The frame is marked “Colts/Patent” on the left side with a brass grip referencing “44 Cal”. Matching 194337 numbered on the barrel, frame, brass trigger guard, and bottom of the grip. Limited disassembly shows an unnumbered wedge, rear of cylinder marked with inspector initials HT, and cylinder axel numbered 5054, the same as the loading gate.
Condition:
G/VG original finish with fading/spotting/handling marks as carefully imaged. Grips with most of original varnish. Bright bore with scattered oxidative etching, easily discernible rifling. Correct manual mechanics with each of the cylinders indexing properly. One of the better 1860 Army Richard Conversion revolvers.
