Attractive Mauser C96 Red 9 Broomhandle Pistol with matching stock, carrier, and cleaning rod.

Description:

Highly desirable, Mauser C96, Red 9. with matching stock, original 1918 dated leather carrier with cleaning rod. SN:43078. Cal: 9mmP. Pistol is an original standard configuration Red 9 with 5.5” barrel, fixed front and 50-500 rear sight. Short extractor and two lug firing pin. Usual chamber markings with full SN on left chamber flat. Crown/C/Crown/U on left side of barrel extension. Military acceptance on right side. Full serial number or last few digits on bolt, bolt stop, hammer, subframe and back of frame. Two line Mauser address on right side of frame. Disassembly shows all matching numbers, except the sear that is number “023”. Original lanyard ring present. Complete with commercial Mauser stock, likely from a Prewar Commercial or Wartime Standard Commercial whose lug was replaced with the original matching lug corresponding to this pistol. Original carrier dated 1918, this example a later rework corresponding with the L.Z.A. markings on the nose and obverse surface, the securing strap a replacement, with an aged reproduction cleaning rod as evident from its sharpened tip.

Condition:

VG original finish pistol with wear, fading, and minor freckling in the usual contact areas under barrel, forward projection of magazine well, and thinning of straps as imaged. Comparable condition stock as detailed above. VG+ leather carrier with crazing as photographed. VG+ cleaning rod. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A very attractive ensemble that could be easily upgraded by swapping the lug onto a correct stock.
