Final year production Colt Lightweight Commander in .38 Super from 1968 with original Coltalloy aluminum alloy frame and “LW” suffix serial number 57587-LW. Standard configuration pistol with fixed sights and 4¼-inch barrel. Left side of slide marked “COMMANDER MODEL COLT .38 SUPER AUTOMATIC” with Rampant Colt logo. Right side of slide with standard Colt Hartford Connecticut address and patent markings. Aluminum alloy frame manufactured from proprietary Coltalloy developed by Reynolds Aluminum, making this the first mass-produced pistol with aluminum construction. Standard blue finish on steel slide components with black anodized aluminum frame. Checkered brown plastic grips moulded with encircled rampant Colt. Correct magazine with 8 indicator holes and floorplate marked with rampant Colt/SUPER .38 AUTO. Serial number places production in final months of original Commander series before transition to CLW prefix in 1969 due to Gun Control Act requirements. Represents end of an era for this groundbreaking aluminum-framed pistol design. Complete with original Coltwood shipping box, matching serial number in white wax pencil on base, containing warranty card, special instructions, shooting suggestions, and parts schematic.

VG+ original finish with most wear on slide and back-strap as befitting a pistol that has seen moderate carry. Bright bore, sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics.
