Scarce early war Mauser K98k made by ERMA, chamber coded “27” and dated “1939”, with laminated stock, fully matching with the exception of the cleaning rod that has a different contractor acceptance.
Description:
Standard configuration early-war Mauser K98k, made by ERMA with chamber code 27 as used from 1938-1940, SN: 4937i, cal. 8mm, all visible serial numbers matching, with correct laminated military stock, serrated ramp drift adjustable front sight and a tangent rear sight graded 1-20. Left side of the receiver marked with the full serial number and Mod. 98. A scattering of acceptance markings along sides of receiver, barrel, floorplate, and stock. All parts matched to the four digits of serial number, including both barrel bands, tangent sight, all components of the bolt, trigger guard assembly/floorplate, and laminated stock. Cleaning rod coded WaA214 as would have been used by a different contractor.
Condition:
G/VG overall with the metal components having fared a bit better than the wood. Metal components retaining the majority of their pre war finish, wear in expected areas as befitting a service rifle that may have seen conflict throughout WWII. The laminated stock has numerous scuffs, dings, and handling marks. There is a hairline crack approximately 1.75″ on the right side extending from the buttplate towards the disassembly disc; the crack on the left, difficult to see, extends from the buttplate to the disc. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. A scarce, all original Mauser K98k made under contract by ERMA in 1939!
