Matching serial numbers on frontstrap, cylinder, under grips and under barrel. The left side of frame is inspector marked (KSM), as is the barrel, and cylinder. Color-case-hardened trigger and hammer. Butt marked “U.S. Army Model 1899”. Fitted with walnut checkered grips marked “ J.T.T / 1901” (left) and “K.S.M” (right) diamonds around the screw.
Condition:
G/VG high luster original blue with spotting and wear consistent with a revolver that was in use prior to and during WWI. Comparable fading of the color case hardened parts. Grips with mild oil staining, the left panel missing a small border chip along backstrap, both panels with scattered impressions at butt near lanyard ring. Mirror bright bore. Perfect manual mechanics, each cylinder indexing properly against mild resistance. Most of the wear due to carry/handling rather than use as recoil shield shows only the very faintest cartridge head imprints.
