Description:
Swiss M1878 Military Revolver, all matching, one of approximately 5000 revolvers made by Waffenfabrik Bern between 1878-1882. SN: 3869. Cal: 10.4mm. Standard configuration M1878 with 6” octagonal barrel having fixed front and rear sights. Full serial number on left side of barrel, left side of frame and cylinder with last few digits repeated on axle pin, ejector rod and trigger. Assembly number 2850 marked under barrel, front of cylinder and cylinder axle shaft. Frame with usual inspector markings. Fitted with hard rubber grips, the left panel molded with the a Swiss cross surrounded by a finely checkered field. Rotatable lanyard ring present.
Condition:
VG/EXC original condition that is just beginning to tone with sharp edge wear consistent with a Military Revolver that has been lightly holstered. Comparable condition strawed parts with fading and light freckling in expected areas. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics with each cylinder indexing properly against light resistance. A very attractive, all matching, and no-excuse Swiss Military 1878 Revolver that should please any collector or shooter! ANTIQUE
