Description:
Late WWII Steyr K98k rifle made in Austria with sheet metal barrel bands and trigger guard, laminated stock, “bnz” chamber code dated “4” (1944), cal 8mm, SN: 1301k, with all visible serial numbers matching, complete with bayonet/scabbard. Hooded serrated ramp drift adjustable front sight and a tangent rear sight graded 1-20. Left side of the barrel marked with the full serial number. “Mod. 98” on left side of receiver. Scattering of acceptance Eagle/77 markings along sides of receiver and barrel. All parts matched to the serial number, including both barrel bands, tangent sight, all components of the bolt, and trigger guard assembly/floorplate. Wood stock with large acceptance on right side of buttstock, cupped buttplate, cleaning rod, and sling. Blued bayonet #D1433 in unmarked, blued scabbard with unmarked leather frog.
Condition:
Metal components VG/EXC as redipped. Cleaned, now blonde appearing, laminated stock. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. Bayonet/scabbard/frog G-VG as reworked with redipped blade, scabbard with considerable thinning of original blue, and oil darkened frog with intact stitching and rivets. An interesting an all-matching late war Steyr K98k with stamped sheet metal components, now with an updated finish and nicely cleaned laminated stock.
