Description:
Standard configuration Mauser K98k military rifle cal 8mm made by ERMA with chamber code S/27 as used from 1935-1938, this example dated 1938, SN: 1170e, all visible serial numbers matching, with original walnut military stock, serrated ramp drift adjustable front sight and a tangent rear sight graded 1-20. Left side of the receiver marked with the full serial number and Mod. 98. A scattering of Eagle/77 acceptance markings along sides of receiver, barrel, floorplate, and stock. All parts matched to the four digits of serial number, including cleaning rod, both barrel bands, tangent sight, all components of the bolt, trigger guard assembly/floorplate, buttplate, and stock. Unmarked muzzle cap and correct sling.
Condition:
VG+ original salt blue with sharp edge wear and thinning in usual handling locations as befitting a military rifle that saw moderate service use throughout World War II. Stock lightly sanded with old refinish, markings remaining sharp. Mirror bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. A very nice and all matching K98k rifle with original salt blue made by ERMA in 1938 with a lightly refinished stock retaining well defined markings.
