Description:
Scarce, late war Spreewerk cvq P38 in the “a” prefix serial number range, all matching with correct grips and jvd coded magazine. Standard configuration P38 with 5″ barrel, drift adjustable front sight and fixed rear sight. Left side of slide referencing model, manufacturer (broken die cvq code), and SN, the SN repeated under the barrel, left side of frame and on the locking block. Safety with standard S/F detents. Usual inspection/test proofs on right side of frame. Dark chocolate brown composition grips and “jvd” / “P38/U” marked magazine.
Condition:
VG finish with arguably redipped barrel based on very, very fine speckling under the finish. Slide and frame appear to have original finish, no paint in S/F safety detents, with thinning of front strap in the usual finger contact areas. Original near excellent grips. Magazine VG/EXC as redipped. Dull bore with shallow rifling. Correct manual mechanics though recoil springs sluggish. A nice looking and all-matching Spreework P-38 in the late “a” prefix serial range with correct magazine.
