Description:
Wonderful, near new, Third Series Colt Woodsman Match Target manufactured January 1956, cal .22LR, SN: 167812-S, with 6″ barrel, fixed front sight, and fully adjustable rear sight. The left side of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG CO. HARTFORD, CONN U.S.A.” and the left side of the frame displays “MATCH TARGET” below the rampant Colt logo. Slide marked: “COLT / AUTOMATIC” and “CAL .22 LONG RIFLE”. The right side of the frame bears serial number “167812-S” above the trigger guard. Fitted with checkered black plastic grips, the right panel molded with the rampant Colt symbol. Correct magazines (2), the left side slotted for follower button, the floorplate marked COLT/Cal. 22 L.R. Complete in original, matching shipping box with factory end label referencing “WOODSMAN MATCH TARGET AUTOMATIC PISTOL”, “.22 LONG RIFLE”, “6 INCH BBL”, and “COLT BLUE”, together with original instruction manual, warranty card, undated factory test target, sleeved cleaning brush, and Colt keychain screwdriver marked with the rampant Colt logo. The Match Target Model debuted in 1938 and featured a heavier barrel designed for enhanced accuracy and stability. Nearly 700,000 Woodsman pistols were produced from 1915 to 1977, with the design by John Moses Browning becoming one of the most successful .22 caliber target pistols in American firearms history.
Condition:
The pistol presents as virtually new with 99++ bright original factory salt blue finish, comparable condition grips. Magazines may have come from a different source as the primary magazine is VG with insertional wear and a few scratches on the right side. The spare magazine is only G with considerably more wear, the left side marked with a Social Security number adjacent to the initials M.A. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. Excellent paperwork and other accessories. Box about G with numerous scuffs and shelf wear, the serial number on the bottom present but barely visible.
