Description:
Standard configuration Erfurt Luger pistol in 9mmP, made 1918, late WWI, with regimental markings, later reworked as reflected by the added “/20″ on chamber. This example with 4″ barrel, drift adjustable front sight and V-notch rear sight. 1918/20 on the top of chamber, front toggle link marked Crown/”ERFURT”. Full serial number with letter suffix on forward frame, with an associated “RC” marking, the full serial number repeated on the left side of the barrel extension. Virtually all small parts are matched to the last two digits of the serial number except the fluted firing pin that is unnumbered but accepted. The rear toggle pin is a matching replacement. Regimental markings “.4./K.5..81.” on the frontstrap. Fitted with brown checkered wooden grips, the left panel with no stamped markings, the right panel number 58, both with other penciled numbers. Standard 8-round tinned magazine with SN: 5161 l on bottom of wooden plug.
Condition:
G/VG original finish with wear consistent with moderately heavy use. Usual areas in contact with holster have thinned to a gray along with expected thinning of the front and backstrap. Comparable toning of the strawed parts. Rear toggle pin is a matching replacement. Period correct replacement grips, oil-darkened with blunted checkering, the left panel slightly bowed at base. Magazine body has been cleaned, left ear of plug chipped. Dull bore with easily discernible rifling. Correct manual mechanics, though magazine insertion/removal is sticky.
