Description:
Standard configuration Mauser 71/84 bolt-action rifle, cal. 11mm, as produced at the Danzig Arsenal between 1885 and 1888, this all-matching example dated 1887, SN: 5830r, with 31.5″ barrel and a full-length walnut stock. The rifle is fitted with its original sights: a drift adjustable front sight and a ladder-style rear sight, mounted on the barrel, whose forward surface is graduated from 4-16. The left side of the receiver shows the main serial “5830r” followed by the reference Mod. 71/84. All major and minor components matched to either the full SN or the last few digits. Stock is smooth walnut with military finish, the right side of the buttstock and lower spine marked with deeply impressed acceptances. On top of the matching buttplate are the unit markings ” 50. R. 7. 160.”
Condition:
Near EXC original condition with the barrel retaining nearly 99% of its original rust blue finish, barrel bands and trigger guard with more wear and oxidative toning as carefully photographed. Comparable condition in-the-white components to include receiver, bolt, and buttplate. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. An excellent, all matching example of the Danzig Arsenal Model 71/84 German military rifle made in 1887.
