Description:
Standard configuration WWII production Japanese Type 99 infantry rifle made by Toyo Kogyo Arsenal with 26″ barrel, cal. 7.7mm, anti-aircraft rear tangent sight, largely intact mum (two light strikes), matching dust cover, brass muzzle cover and monopod. Cleaning rod not present. The left side of receiver is stamped with SN: “68422”. Matching dust cover SN: “422” as well as matching bolt handle “422” It has the standard front and rear sights, this example with the anti-aircraft wings on battle/ladder sight graduated from 3-15. Hardwood stock with finger grooves on the sides and handguard with wire monopod and cupped sheet metal buttplate.
Condition:
VG+ original condition with the metal parts showing wear/fading and flecks of oxidation as one might expect from a military rifle that has seen moderate service, particularly wrt the floorplate. Mum largely intact, with only two light strikes. The stock has much of its original finish with scattered handling marks, bruises and oil staining. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics.
