Description:
Underwood Elliott-Fisher Company U.S. M1 Carbine, cal. .30 Carbine, with 18-inch barrel, “EU” marked front sight with protective ears, barrel marked Underwood 9/43 over Ordnance bomb, flip rear sight with “S” marked base, receiver marked “U.S. Carbine/Cal .30 M1”; rear marked “Underwood / 2652908”, over Ordnance bomb that is also repeated on the lower surface of the trigger guard. Magazine catch is stamped “AU.” Disassembly shows “UC” marked hammer. Stock is a low-wood Model 1944 configuration, handguard with “IO” subcontractor mark, with encircled “P” under pistol grip, oval oiler slot and “MU” marked sling recess, right side of butt with boxed “GHD / UEF” cartouche — “GHD” for Guy H. Drewry and “UEF” for Underwood Elliott-Fisher — accompanied by a U.S. Ordnance crossed cannons acceptance stamp. Fitted with an olive drab web sling and oiler. Included 15-round magazine, spine marked “G-Q”.
Condition:
EXC high quality arsenal rework with crisp markings, though barrel “P” is not visible, none of the ordnance bombs break through the finish, and several parts including handguard and hammer, are replacements. VG stock with crisp cartouche, oil staining with scattered handling marks. Bright bore with crisp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. EXC sling.
