Description:

Standard configuration Chicago Fire Arms Co. Palm Pistol manufactured c. 1890s, approximately 12,800 produced in .32 caliber with 1-3/4 inch barrel, this example SN: 5236 with blued finish, hard rubber grips, and original box with instruction sheet! The circular manufacturer marking on the left / removable disc reads “CHICAGO FIRE ARMS CO. CHICAGO, ILL.”, the right disc referencing “THE PROTECTOR” followed by the patent. Disassembly shows a matching “5236” on the removable cover, cylinder, and body of the pistol. Complete with original factory cardboard box marked “THE IMPROVED PROTECTOR” and “CHICAGO FIRE ARMS CO.” along with an original factory parts diagram and price list showing exploded view of numbered components and referencing “Price List of Parts for the 32 Caliber Improved ‘PROTECTOR REVOLVER'” with Chicago Fire Arms Co. offices listed at 637-638 Monadnock Building, Chicago, Ill.

Condition:

Near-excellent original blued finish with light handling wear and an occasional oxidative spot, most noticeable on the upper and lower surface of the barrel and upper body. Comparable condition, hard rubber panels and bore, VG+ box with shelf wear, careful taped and glued repairs, label on bottom referencing blued finish and caliber, the instruction sheet yellowed, stained, with a small loss on the left side of the page.
