Description:
Standard late configuration SIG P49 Swiss military pistol, cal. 9mmP, pistol, this matching example, SN: A205600, retained by the military for use as a shooting prize, with 4.7″ barrel, drift-adjustable serrated ramp front sight and U-notch rear sight. Left side of slide with the oval “SIG” logo and full serial number, the serial number repeated on the adjacent frame and on the exposed barrel hood. Usual white “S” and red “F” safety markings, the “P” deaccession mark on the left side of the trigger guard having cut through the finish. Bottom of forward frame engraved “Ehrengabe VBS / Hist. Schwaderloh-Schiessen / 2001” indicating presentation piece/prize for historical shooting competition in Schwaderloh in year 2001. Black checkered plastic grips secured with single screw, left panel relieved for fixed lanyard ring. Two matte finished magazines, each with seven indicator holes, and button-secured floorplate. No certificate. Disassembly shows a matching hammer group. Serial numbers starting with “A” designate Swiss army ordnance models, with army models running from serial number A 100001 to A 213110.
Condition:
Wonderful 99% original matte finish, a rub mark on the right side of the frame that corresponds to the battle-ready stud added to many holsters. Virtually no muzzle wear or mars/handling marks on the trigger guard or front strap, no cartridge head imprinting of breech bock and no hammer rub marks against firing pin housing, suggesting that the gun was put away and not fired. Comparable condition grips, the magazines with light insertional wear. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics.
