Scarce Bergmann 1910/21, made by Anciens Etablissements Pieper, Danish Military Contract. Later reworked to have improved sideplate retention and larger black Trolite grips.
Description:
Standard configuration Anciens Etablissements Pieper, as made for the Danish Military, 9mm Bergmann, reworked/improved in 1921, with unmarked black Trolite grips and correct, closely numbered magazine. Single action locked breech pistol having 4” barrel having fixed front and rear sights. The left side of the barrel extension is marked by the manufacturer in Belgium, and references the Bergmann patent. Belgium proofs are on top of the bolt, on right side of frame, right side of barrel extension, right side of the barrel. Serial number 13156 under the forward frame extension. Danish acceptance marking Crown/D on the left side of the frame; Danish issue number 4528 on right side of the frame. Rework/upgrade notation “M1910/21” marked on the left side of the frame, the improvements including a spanner screw used to secure the sideplate and enlarged grips, initially Trolite as on this pistol. Correct but mismatched magazine closely numbered 13422. Further disassembly was not effected. Major components rust blued; small parts either in the white or fired blued.
Condition:
VG + original blue. Comparable condition small parts with staining as pictured. Excellent original grips. Bright bore, light oxidation in grooves, with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. One of the more unusual, low production, military, semiautomatic pistols, this example an interesting rework with the desirable Trolite grips, made prior to WWII.
