Scarce BRNO G.33-40 German mountain troops (Gebirgsjäger) WWII carbine, made in Czechoslovakia with Mauser action between 1940-1942, this is a first year production all matching rifle that was coded “945” in 1940.
Description:
The G.33-40, also known as the Gewehr 33/40, is a German military rifle based on the Czech VZ 33 carbine, featuring a 19.6-inch barrel, hooded blade front and tangent rear sight graded 1-10, “945/1940” on the receiver ring and “G.33/40” on the left side wall. Full SN on the left side of receiver, repeated on the rear surface of the bolt handle and the lower spine of the stock. Barrel bands not marked. A “mountain” style cupped buttplate has the characteristic protective plate on the left side.
Condition:
VG original finish metal parts with fading and flecked oxidation in usual contact areas, top of bolt head with a freshened spot. Stock appears as an old refinish, the matching number on the spine, lightly imprinted, the last three digits and ‘b’ suffix clearly visible. Bright bore with sharp rifling and correct manual mechanics. A rarely encountered German WWII Military rifle!
