Attractive example of a Colt 1911A1 made in 1944 and used during WWII with correct grips and magazine. SN: 1677944. Cal: .45ACP. Standard configuration pistol with a 5” barrel, fixed front sight and drift adjustable rear sight. Left side of slide with usual two line address including the rampant Colt. Left frame with inspector marking GDH. Right side of frame with the usual “UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A1 U.S.ARMY” over the full serial number. Correct coarsely checkered Keyes grips with reinforcing rings around screws. Magazine marked “S” on inner toe. Disassembly shows the barrel marked “COLT 45 AUTO” with lug marked “P”.
Condition:
98+% parkerizing on major components with blued small parts. Although proofing and inspector marks very sharp, none of these markings cut through the parkerized finish. Comparable condition salt blue on barrel, bushing, hammer and other miscellaneous parts including magazine. Near mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A very nice and sharply marked Colt 1911A1 from WWII.
