Description:
Standard configuration 1911A1 manufactured by Colt in 1945, the left side of the slide marked with the usual two-line Colt address. The model designation, SN, and U.S. Army markings are on the right side of the frame. Proofing includes the “P” on top of the slide and on the left frame below the magazine release, neither breaking through the parkerized finish. The left side of the frame has the “GHD” inspection mark. The ordnance wheel is very lightly stamped on the right frame near the tang. It is fitted with serrated front sight and drift adjustable rear sights, serrated slide release, checkered thumb safety, short, checkered, beavertail hammer, and checkered Keyes Fiber grips with reinforcements around the screws. Blued magazine marked “C-L” on floorplate. Disassembly shows the barrel lug marked with a “P” (left side) and boxed C (right side) as correct for 1945 Colt 1911A1. Complete with OD Tan web belt with ammo pouch and Individual first aid kit (IFAK) with pouch as carefully imaged.
Condition:
VG+ as lightly reworked, now appearing as a 95-97% parkerized pistol with expected sharp edge and holster wear. While markings remain extremely crisp, none of the “P” inspector markings, ordnance wheel, or inspector initials break through the parkerized finish. The rear sight has a blunted top edge, and the short checkered beavertail hammer is from earlier production. Excellent grips with sharp checkering and VG magazine with insertional wear and oxidative spotting. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. Near excellent web gear with VG First Aid Kit. A very interesting and historic package, especially with the web gear and first aid kit!
