Standard configuration FIRST GENERATION Colt Single Action Army revolver manufactured in 1906, SN: 282741, cal. .38 W.C.F (.38/40), with blued 7.5″ barrel, blued cylinder and grip, color case hardened frame, and black gutta percha grips. Fixed front sight with standard rear sight notch in the topstrap. Top of barrel marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” with matching serial number 282741 on the bottom of the trigger guard, frame, and on the butt. Left side of barrel marked “.38 W.C.F.” and frame showing patent dates “PAT SEPT. 19. 1871” and “JULY 2. 72 JAN.19.75.” Loading gate with assembly number “154”. Black checkered hard rubber grips having the Rampant Colt on each panel that are internally hand scribed with a matching “2741”. Complete with a Colt factory letter dated November 15, 2013, confirming the specifics of this revolver, caliber showing as .38/40, showing shipment on September 17, 1906 to the George Tritch Hardware Company in Denver, Colorado. This revolver represents part of the First Generation production run that totaled 357,859 units manufactured from 1873 through 1940.
Condition:
VG original factory finish with light holster wear and general fading in areas of contact/normal handling, particularly around the muzzle, forward ejector housing, and grip straps. Case colors uniformly muted. Comparable condition fire blued screws. Grips with early brown toning and blunted checkering, more so on the right panel. Mirror bright bore. Correct manual mechanics.
