Rare opportunity to own one of the earliest Commercial Colt 1911 pistols with original finish, including the peacock blue small parts, and keyhole magazine. This gun has all the early features desired by Colt collectors: the early high polish blue, rounded rear sight, fire blued small parts, and a keyhole magazine with lanyard ring. Left side of slide with usual two line address referencing patent dates and the Colt location in Hartford, CT. suffixed by the encircled rampant Colt. “COLT AUTOMATIC /CALIBER 45” on right side of slide. Frame marked with the serial number on left side and ‘GOVERNMENT MODEL” on right. Disassembly shows a correctly marked commercial barrel. Fitted with original walnut checkered grips with large diamonds around screws. Original dual toned magazine with keyhole and lanyard ring floorplate.
Condition:
VG+ bright original finish with scattered scuffs as carefully photographed. Fire blued parts in comparable condition showing no enhancement. Comparable grips, a small area of blunting/checkered enhancement on right panel just below diamond. Magazine in same condtion as balance of the pistol. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. An extremely nice, early and no excuse Colt Commercial 1911 pistol.
