Ultra rare CZ 27 military test pistol with electropenciled “U” 2820.
Description:
Standard configuration CZ 27 military test pistol as pictured and described in the text “Axis Pistols” by Jan Still on page 60-62. As per the few noted examples, it has a 4” barrel with a fixed front and drift adjustable rear sight. The top of the slide is marked “BOHMISCHE WAFFENFABRIK A.G. IN PRAG” with no adjacent number. The left side of the slide is conventionally marked with the model and caliber reference. “U” 2820 is electropenciled on the left side of the slide and sideplate with a small test proof having been stamped on the forward frame. The test proof is repeated on the exposed barrel hood, while dissasembly shows a WaA76 on the lower suface of the barrel, just in front of the locking lugs. Fitted with the usual single piece brown bakalite grip having CZ logo within a checkered and bordered field. Main components are salt blued; barrel is in the white; hammer, safety release, trigger, and grip screws are strawed.
Condition:
Approximately 90-95% bright original salt blue, the right side of the pistol having several patches of cleaned oxidation as carefully photographed. Comparable condition original straw on the small parts. Grip missing a very tiny chip at bottom front corner. Near EXC magazine. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. An important and exceedingly difficult pistol to find for the advanced CZ/WWII pistol collector, as only a few of these military test pistols reportedly exist!
