Charismatic and rarely offered Shanghai Arsenal pistol-carbine variation of the FN 1900 – one of the most distinctive, high quality Chinese pistols of the era!
Description:
This scarce and immediately identifiable Chinese Warlord pistol was based on the FN 1900 design, but enlarged, fitted with a tangent rear sight, and slotted for a shoulder stock. These guns were discussed at length in the book “Pistols of the Warlords 1911-1949” by Ian McCollum, on page 30-39, this exact pistol referenced on page 35. These pistols had a 5.5 inch barrel and the grip was extended from FN 1900 design to hold 10 rounds in a single stacked magazine as opposed to 8 in the original design. This pistol is one of the few to have grips molded with the ‘FSG’ initials, whose reference is still unknown. Total production of the Shanghai Arsenal Pistol Carbine has been estimated at fewer than 3,000 guns.
Condition:
G/VG with fading and patchy oxidation as extensively photographed. Comparable condition original grips that are appropriately worn. Surprisingly bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A key pistol for those who collect Chinese Warlord pistols, particularly those that were made in a government arsenal.
