Scarce DWM 1908 Military Luger, with added holdopen, regimental markings, British proofs, matching with correct magazine.
Description:
DWM 1908 German Military Luger, 9mmP, with usual 4″ barrel, having drift adjustable front sight and fixed “V” notch rear sight. Full serial number on forward frame and under barrel, all appropriate small parts matched to the last two digits except unnumbered firing pin and grips that have been accepted but unnumbered. Front strap marked “9.H.5.3.” Correct but mismatched magazine numbered 9123+. Scattered British proofs in usual locations, with most extensive markings under barrel as photographed.
Condition:
G/VG. Original rust blue, with fading and wear as one might expect from a service pistol made in 1908 and likely used throughout WWI. Comparable condition small parts, with faded straw, particularly on the safety lever, as carefully imaged. Oil darkened grips, with blunted checkering, the left panel missing a small segment under the safety lever. Magazine plug with hairline crack at rear portion. Slightly dull, etched bore with easily discernible rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A fascinating early military Luger with an interesting history, whose regimental markings on frontstrap warrant further research.
