Scarce DWM, 1915 Artillery Luger, German Military WWI, correct magazine.
Description:
1915 was the second year that DWM made Artillery Lugers. All the early pistols, as per this example, fitted with fine tune front and rear sights. This standard configuration Artillery Luger from WWI, caliber 9mmP, has an 8 inch barrel and a rear sight fitted the usual 1-8 stops for cursor elevation. Chamber dated 1915 with intertwined DWM on front toggle link. Usual proofs on right side of barrel extention. Full serial number on forward frame, under barrel, and left side of barrel extention. Last two digits on all usual small parts. All matching, including the grips, except the magazine that has a correct but unmarked walnut plug.
Condition:
VG with sharp edge wear and spotting, especially on the barrel, as one would expect for a pistol made and used throughout most of WWI. Comparable condition straw, largely faded, that shows no evidence of enhancement. Dark grips, with slightly blunted checkering, the left panel missing the usual small chip just below the safety lever. Near excellent magazine. Near mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A very nice and original DWM Artillery Luger from early WWI!
