Attractive Mauser C96 Flatside Broomhandle with Factory-Matching Stock
Description:
This Mauser C96 Flatside features a fixed front sight and a slip-in rear sight graduated 50-1000. It has a long extractor, a single lug firing pin, a large ring hammer, and the earliest type of safety. The chamber has a three-line address, with the full serial number on the left chamber flat. On the left side of the barrel extension are Crown/C/U markings and, on the right side, an antler proof. The frame is unmarked except for the full serial on the backstrap. External numbers completely match the last few digits of the serial number, including the sight bar and cursor. Disassembly shows matching numbers on the floorplate, follower, transfer bar, sear, and locking block. Unnumbered firing pin, modified from a later 2-lug form. Matching grips, complete with Mauser stock having matching lug.
Condition:
VG+ original rust blue, with light freckling and sharp edge wear as carefully photographed. Virtually all the small parts have had their fire blue enhanced, the bolt side having its exposed side resurfaced. Grips with of their original varnish, a light scattering dings, a minor loss on the left panel near the screwhead. Dull bore, extensively etched with shallow rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. Stock revarnished with several hairline repairs, the most extensive related to the usual thin spot on the lid just in front of the LR hammer. Refinished lug with sharp numeration. An attractive C96 Flatside with a matching stock!
