Standard configuration Colt New Service Revolver, made 1909, SN: 22906, Cal: .45ACP, with high polish finish having 5.5” barrel with shark’s fin front and grooved rear sight. Top of barrel with two line address reflecting location and patent dates. “COLT D. A. 45” on left side of barrel. Frame and crane matched to SN 22906. Rampant Colt on sideplate. Smooth walnut panels, each grip pencil numbered 22906. Rotatable lanyard ring.
Condition:
Approximately 95% bright blue original finish, with sharp edge wear, a few tiny oxidative spots on barrel. Most of the wear relates to thinning of the backstrap. Fire-blued parts in comparable condition, wear in expected areas, no suggestion of enhancement. Comparable condition smooth walnut grips. Recoil shield shows no cartridge head imprints. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. A very attractive and high condition Colt New Service, mechanically identical to the later model 1917 Military revolver issued during WWI.
