Description:
World War II U.S. military M1 carbine made in November 1943 by IBM with 18-inch barrel, flat blued bolt, and detachable 15-shot magazine marked with “R” on spine. Barrel is marked “IBM CORP.”, dated “11-43” above an Ordnance flaming bomb, the markings cutting through the finish. Chamber marked “U.S. CARBINE/CAL. 30 M1”. Rear of receiver marked “IBM CORP.” over serial number 3856542 with an “N” stamped below the manufacturer line and an “AO” stamped under the serial number. Flip rear sight mounted to an “S” marked base. Surface of recoil plate unmarked. Plain unmarked safety, magazine release marked “MN” on front surface. Handguard subcontractor marked “IN”. High wood stock with I-cut, unmarked pistol grip, right side of butt with a barely discernible cartouche, no markings inside the sling slot. Disassembly shows an “N” marked trigger housing, the hammer marked “IH”. Fitted with era-correct green khaki military sling.
Condition:
VG+ IBM manufactured M1 Carbine as arsenal reworked with replacement handguard/stock and several internal components as detailed and photographed. Mirror bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. Comparable condition sling.
