Scarce U.S. military WWII M1 Carbine manufactured by Irwin-Pedersen Arms Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan, cal. .30 Carbine, with 18″ blued barrel, fixed front sight marked “IPN”, the barrel marked “ROCK-OLA”, dated 1-43, and proofed with a “P”. Type A barrel band, wide swivel marked “UP”. Usual chamber markings and flat, blued bolt. Receiver is marked “IRWIN-PEDERSEN” with SN: 1767786. Flip rear sight over “S” marked base (right side). Safety button marked “IP-W” on left side. Front of magazine release marked “IP-W”. Walnut stock with unmarked pistol grip, “I” cut with squared “SG” cartouche and ordnance wheel on right side of butt, sling well marked “RSG”. Disassembly shows an “RSG” marked handguard. Trigger guard and hammer marked “IP”. 15-shot magazine marked IW on spine, oiler, and correct khaki canvas sling.
Condition:
VG-EXC with sharp edge wear and a scuffing, particularly on the exposed barrel, as one would expect from a rifle after several years of service. The barrel date and P proof cut through the barrel bluing, the hardness punch on the receiver, in front of the rear sight, has an in-the-white base. Comparable condition stock, though the handguard may be a correct replacement judging from the difference in color and darkened dents on the right side. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. Comparable condition oiler/sling.
