A very nice, high condition, all original, Ithaca 1911A1 U.S. military pistol issued in 1943, mid-WWII, whose features should satisfy any collector!
Description:
Standard configuration Ithaca 1911A1 Pistol, made 1943, with blade and drift adjustable notch sights, serrated slide release, thumb safety, flat checkered hammer and short grip safety. The left side of the slide marked with the usual two-line Ithaca address. Left side of the frame with the “FJA” inspection mark. The model designation, SN, and U.S. Army markings are on the right side of the frame. Proofing includes the “P” on top of the slide and on the left frame below the magazine release, both breaking through the parkerized finish. The ordnance wheel is stamped on the right frame near the tang, again breaking through the finish. Checkered Keyes Fiber grips with reinforcements around the screws. Correct blued magazine marked with an ‘L’ on the toe. Disassembly shows the barrel lug marked with a “P” (partial strike, left side) and “HS” (right side).
Condition:
Near excellent original finish with sharp edge wear near the muzzle as one would expect from a pistol that has been holstered. Scratches below the slide release as often seen with careless reassembly. Several small marks on muzzle crown of barrel as imaged. Minimal wear on front or backstrap. Excellent, near new, grips. Magazine with light insertional wear, superficial freckling on floorplate. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics.
