Description:
Standard configuration Russian Berdan II single shot bolt action rifle, manufactured by Izhevsk, originally chambered in 10.67x58mmR, then sent to Belgium for upgrades to the 7.62x54mmR cartridge for the Soviet military. This rifle has a 32″ barrel with a drift adjustable front sight and a ladder type rear sight graded from 4-12 on the base and 13-27 on the ladder. Matching SN on the receiver, barrel, bolt, and the firing pin assembly; non-matching buttplate. Scattered proofs from the Russian Empire and Belgium. The Izhevsk factory arrow “logo” is on the floorplate/trigger guard. Missing cleaning rod.
Condition:
VG/EXC as converted with an updated Belgian barrel and improved bolt. Minimal sharp edge wear except for a small area of erosion on the left rear receiver. In the white bolt beginning to tone, particularly concerning the knob. Comparable condition stock with scattered handling marks and scuffs but no cracks. A few tiny chips near toe of buttplate. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. One of the more unusual, antique, single shot Russian military rifles!
