Description:

Exceptionally scarce 1899/1901 Mannlicher pistol as manufactured by Dreyse whose markings reflect 1899 manufacture coupled with the improved 1900/1901 levered takedown. Fitted with 5 5/8” barrel having fixed front and rear sights. Slide slotted for stripper clip feed. Rotating hammer safety on right rear of slide per 1901. Left side of slide with early “ PATENT MANNLICHER” address. Matching serial numbers on barrel, barrel boss, slide, cover plate, and all usual internal components. Fitted with wood bordered checkered grips with pencil matching serial numbers. Fixed lanyard ring.

Condition:

VG original finish with fading as one might expect from a carried/tested pistol as this was truly a transitional arm. Near mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. One of the scarcest early Mannlicher pistols whose features blended the 1899 with the 1901. An extraordinary find for any collector of developmental semi-automatic pistols!
