Standard configuration Remington Model 1867 Navy Rolling Block Pistol, made early 1870s, cal: 50 CF, with fixed blade front sight and V notch rear sight. Left sideplate marked “REMINGTONS ILION N.Y. U.S.A.” followed by the patent dates. Right sideplate marked “P/F.C.W.” Top of the barrel with the Anchor marking/W.D.W. Serial number 5782 under barrel. Blued barrel, color case hardened receiver/trigger guard, strawed loading gate, and fire blued hammer/trigger. Single piece smooth grip, left panel marked with military cartouche.
Condition:
VG with moderate wear/scuff/fading as one might expect from a Military issued pistol from the last century. Loading gate retains the majority of its original straw. Expected wear on fire blued components. Forend and grip with oil staining, scattered handling marks, and the butt with more prominent indentations. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. One of the most instantly recognizable rolling block pistols from the last century!
