Scarce early production SIG SP47-8, predecessor of the legendary P210.
Description:
This SIG is the 839th production P210 configuration pistol, the series starting at SN 6001, different from later by virtue of its slide markings, manner of numeration, and rust blue finish. This single action pistol has a 4.75” barrel, drift adjustable semi-patridge front sight, drift adjustable rear sight, and loaded indicator. The left side of the slide is marked “S.P.47/8 SIG”. The full serial number is repeated on the left side of the frame, the right side of the barrel hood and under the slide/over the firing pin housing. The hammer group, without half cock, is matching. Safety detents are marked with an “S” in white and “F” in red. Fitted with serrated walnut grips, no lanyard ring on the left side as correct for these early production pistols. Secured with fire blued screw and high polish unmarked magazine with 7 indicator holes and removable floorplate.
Condition:
VG original blue with most of the wear around the muzzle and forward rails, negligible thinning of front strap. Attractive grips with original varnish. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. One of the earliest SIG pistols, made before either the P210 or the P49 series went into production, this example in the much more desirable 9mmP. A key pistol for the serious SIG collector.
