Description:
Gorgeous, all original, Mauser C96 Post War Mauser Banner Bolo, all matching serial numbers. Cal: 7.63mm. Standard configuration C96 Mauser Banner Bolo with rust blue finish having 3.9″ barrel, slip-in 50-1000 meter tangent rear sight, small extractor, and small ring hammer. Three line “WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF” address on top of chamber. Crown/U proofing on left chamber flat. Full serial number 606939 on left side of barrel extension. Left side of frame with narrow Mauser Banner. Usual two line address on right side of frame. Serrated walnut grips with matching serial number under both grip panels. Original lanyard ring that swivels side-to-side. Serial number 606939 places this pistol within the documented Post War Bolo production range of approximately 440,000-793,350, manufactured from the early 1920s through 1930. Around serial 500,000, a Mauser banner mark was added to the left side of the Bolo frame, consistent with this example. This model was produced to comply with Treaty of Versailles restrictions limiting German pistols to barrels of 100mm (3.9″) or shorter, and represents the dominant Mauser production throughout the 1920s period.
Condition:
99+% bright original rust blue finish, with minimal sharp edge wear at tips and crest of rails. No wear on forward magazine well or frontstrap. Comparable condition fire-blued small parts. The bolt stop with minimal thinning at crest. Grips retaining virtually all original finish, with only a few handling marks at bottom. Mirror bright bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A spectacular and all matching Mauser Banner Bolo, nearly impossible to upgrade short of finding a similar example with a matching stock!
