Description:
This WWII U.S. Springfield M1C Sniper Rifle, cal .30-06, SN: 3615711, fewer than 13,000 built, with a Lyman Alaskan M82 Telescopic Sight, cone flash hider, correct sling, in usual serial range and DCM letter of authenticity. The rifle was originally manufactured in late 1944-early 1945, later reworked/refurbished for Korea as it is marked on the rear flat behind the rear sight with “SA-52”. The side of the receiver is fitted with a M1C scope bracket. The base itself is correctly held on with three cap head screws and two taper pins. The mount is fitted with an original WWII contract M82 sniper scope marked on the left side: “TELESCOPE M82/SERIAL NO. 82164/ STOCK NO. 0055771”. The rifle was refurbished for Korea as it is marked on the rear flat behind the rear sight with “SA-52”. SA barrel dated 6-54. No discernible markings on bayonet lug. The receiver has standard Springfield markings and is fitted with a post-war rear sight assembly a post-war wide gas cylinder and a mix of WWII and post war Springfield Armory markings. It is fitted with an arsenal rework walnut stock with boxed “P” on pistol grip and SA buttplate and has a russet leather, “MRT/ 11-58” marked, lace-on cheekpiece. Complete with a cone type flash hider. CMP certificate identifying this rifle as an authentic M1C by serial number.
Condition:
VG original condition as arsenal refurbished with a mixture of original and upgraded/refurbished parts. Comparable condition scope with considerable fading on each side of the body and the elevation knob cap. Bright, crisp optics with sharp reticle. VG era-correct replacement stock with light scattering of handling marks and similarly aged cheekpiece. Near EXC flashhider. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. Crisp DCM certificate. A very nice original Springfield Armory M1C Garand Sniper rifle as arsenal refurbished, made for use in Korea, with DCM letter of authenticity.
