Description:
Standard configuration Smith & Wesson AirWeight Chief Special revolver with 2” barrel, caliber 38 Special, serrated ramp front sight, groove rear sight, black alloy frame, color-case-hardened trigger and hammer. Left side of barrel marked “SMITH & WESSON”, left frame with usual S&W logo. Right side of barrel marked “AIRWEIGHT / 38 SPL. CTG.”, right side of frame with the usual S&W address and “MADE IN USA”. Full serial number on butt also repeated on rear of cylinder and under barrel. Frame and crane with matching numbers “10989”. Fitted with checkered/bordered wooden grips, having diamonds around screws and the silver S&W medallions. Complete with original black and silver shipping box, red reinforcements, with matching end label referencing model, finish, and model specifics. Bottom of box wax penciled with matching SN as photographed.
Condition:
99+% original finish. Cylinder ring barely breaks through blue. Muted case colors on hammer and trigger. Grips with a few light handling marks. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. EXC. associated literature on oilskin paper. Shipping box intact with shelf scuffing as imaged. It would be difficult to improve upon this gun short of finding an example with a better shipping box!
