All original example of a S&W Army Model 1917 Revolver with 5.5” barrel having half moon front sight and notched rear sight. Manufacturer and caliber marked on left side of barrel. Top of barrel with patent reference. “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” marked under barrel. Inspector marking on left upper frame that breaks the blue. Matching assembly numbers of 223 on mating surfaces of frame and crane. Full serial number under barrel, back face of cylinder, and on butt that is additionally marked “US ARMY MODEL 1917”. Lanyard ring present. Fitted with smooth walnut panels. Major components blued with color case hardened hammer, trigger, and lanyard ring.
Condition:
VG+ with light sharp edge wear, spotting around barrel, and more noticeable freckling around front/backstrap as carefully imaged. Comparable or better condition grips, with relatively few handling marks. A near mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics, with all cylinders locking up very tightly. A classic S&W .45 ACP Military revolver from WWI with unusual in not having the S&W logo on the sideplate, with just enough wear to comfortably take to the range and impress your friends!
