Description:
Standard early configuration WG Army Revolver, sold through the “Army and Navy C. S. L.” as marked on the top rib. This revolver has a 6” barrel with a brass front sight and fixed rear sight. The model reference is marked on the left side of the top-strap with the caliber marked on the left side of the barrel lug. The “476” reference refers to its ability to equally chamber the 476 Enfield MkIII cartridge. The left side of the frame is marked with the Webley patent and traditional winged bullet. Full serial number is on the right side of the frame with the last three digits under the barrel lug and on the rear face of the cylinder that is also marked for the 476 cartridge. Major components are blued with most of the small parts in-the-white. Fitted with dark brown checkered Gutta Percha grips and a rotatable lanyard ring.
Condition:
VG+ with the usual areas of freckling and flaking as often affects these early high polish pistols and revolvers. Virtually all the small parts, originally left in-the-white, have been carefully polished. Mirror bore. Excellent manual mechanics with all cylinders indexing properly. Comparable condition grips. A large and impressive Webley Revolver from over 100 years ago.
