Swiss Bern 1906/24 Luger, Original Service Record Documents, SN: 20870, Cal. 7.65mmLuger.
Description:
This Bern Luger is unusual in that it is accompanied by a full set of original Swiss military documents showing its issue to Kurth Ernst in 14 July 1923, Ernst apparently inlisting in 1915 with regular entries appearing to 1939. The pistol is a standard configuration M1924 with 4.75” barrel having drift adjustable blued front sight and fixed “V” notch rear sight. Blank chamber. Middle link with WAFFENFABRIK BERN. Inspection marking on left side of receiver. Full serial number under barrel and forward frame with the last few digits under the sideplate, trigger, barrel extension, and on all three components of the toggle, and each of the grips. Scattered Swiss crosses in usual locations. Major components are rust blued. Strawed takedown lever, trigger, magazine release button, ejector and safety lever. Correct magazine with tinned body and unmarked walnut plug. Accompanied by two original hard bound Swiss military books detailing issued items, including this luger, and other milestones in Kurt Ernst’s military record.
Condition:
VG+ original blue with spotting/thinning of barrel and sharp edge wear in usual locations as befitting a service pistol that has seen moderate use. Comparable condition grips. Magazine body has been bead blast cleaned. Perfect manual mechanics. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Military record books with stains and fading as one might expect from a service document that was issued to a person born in 1896, enlisting in 1915, and remaining in limited service until 1939.
