Description:
Standard configuration Utica M4 bayonet introduced in 1944 for use with the M1 carbine, with 6.75 inch spear point blade and steel cross guard marked “US M4” over “UTICA”. Fitted with brown leather wrapped handle in the traditional military pattern of stacked leather washers that were shaped by turning on a lathe, then polished and lacquered. Complete with olive drab plastic/canvas scabbard having metal throat marked ” U.S. M8/ B M CO”. , the hanger designed for standard military web gear attachment with metal hook and loop fittings. Built on the M3 fighting knife design with carbon steel blade construction, the M4 was either blued or parkerized and served as both a bayonet and fighting knife throughout World War II and beyond.
Condition:
VG original condition with the blade wear reflecting moderate use, consistent with the early oxidative changes in the hand guard and the staining of the grip. Comparable condition US M8 scabbard with green khaki hanger. A wonderful accessory for your M1 Carbine…..or a tasteful kitchen decoration, perfect for the holidays or your wife’s birthday!
