Description:

Scarce S&W 5 screw military and police revolver, cal .38 Special, superb condition in factory matching gold/blue box. Standard configuration revolver with fixed sights. Left side of barrel with S&W name and caliber. Usual logoed 5 screw sideplate with “MADE IN USA” on right side of frame. “S” prefix SN on butt with matching number on rear of cylinder. Frame and crane with matching assembly number “42673”. Color case hardened hammer and trigger. Fitted with standard S&W grips with silvered medallions and diamond patterned checkering. Complete with cleaning rod/brush and crisp original gold/blue shipping box referenced to show blue finish, square butt, and 2 in barrel. Wax penciled matching SN on bottom of box.

Condition:

EXC+ Although cylinder ring does not break finish there is a box rub mark on cylinder as imaged. Comparable condition case hardening on small parts and crisp grips, a small ding on bottom of left grip, again, as imaged. EXC box with usual scuffs but very clear markings. Mirror bore. Indexing not checked as we did not want the cylinder ring to break the finish. A wonderful example of a S&W military and police snub nose with 5 screw frame in an early factory matching box.
