Standard configuration Type Armee, Model 1928, with 5” finned barrel, SN: 8761, Cal: 9mm French Long, having fixed front and rear sight. Unique flip barrel. Double action only mechanism with correct magazine, this example with the spare cartridge loop, closely numbered “8331”. Top of slide marked “Le Francais” in a small oval. Model notation “Type Armee” on the left side of the slide; manufacturer “MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE D-ARMES ET CYCLES DE SAINT-ETIENNE” on the right side of the slide. Major parts rust blued with beautifully case hardened trigger and release lever. European walnut checkered panels whose inserted discs retain the internally securing parts. Magazine with release at base having seven indicator holes.
Condition:
Crisp 98-99% bright original rust blue, with minimal sharp edge wear in usual locations. Comparable condition case hardening. Generally excellent but oil darkened grips. Comparable condition magazine with insertional wear as photographed. Near mirror bright bore. Perfect manual mechanics. One of the most impressive and scarce large caliber pistols to have been tested by the French military.
